Job Central Looks to Best Monster, CareerBuilder, and Other Job Sites
Perhaps because I have several friends who have just found themselves in the market for a new job, this story in the Denver Post caught my eye when I read about it in the Montana Associated Technology Roundtables' weekly newsletter. It seems that Job Central is now the largest source of job listings in the country. Using a business model that allows large employers to simply buy access to the job site (rather than paying per listing), employers are able to 'cut out the middle man'.
Will Job Central really be a threat to Monster and other job boards like it? It all depends on Job Central's success in attracting those seeking employment. Right now, Job Central's not doing much to build brand. If they can get mindshare through word of mouth, they may at least force the conventional job boards to lower their listing rates. I'm interested to hear your experience using Job Central. Is it usable? Are there really more listings there than on the conventional job boards? And does it have the depth of niche jobs to displace a site like Dice.com for technology workers?
