Another example of Adobe's Pixel Bender plugin, this time using a seed image I captured on London's Cheyne Walk several years ago. I think I could overdo playing with this pretty easily!

I discovered Adobe's Pixel Bender plugin for CS5 earlier today. I was intrigued by the Oil Painting filter, so I downloaded the plugin and gave it a shot tonight after work. Very impressed with the speed - because it leverages the GPU, updates are almost instant. Quick, easy, done. Here's the output of one experiment - a shot of Maui flowers taken during my last trip to the island.

Here's a shot taken on Christmas Day near Silver Gate, Montana. A pair
of bull moose were just across the river from our cabin; my
brother-in-law and I busted through the snow to get close enough for a
series of shots. It's great to see moose back in the neighborhood!

Took a Sunday afternoon drive with the family to get out of the house and enjoy fall color in Southwest Montana. We were not disappointed - this vista on Trail Creek shows that although fall colors may be past their peak, Mother Nature still has plenty of class on display as she slides into the arms of winter. Shot with my Olympus E30, Zuiko 50mm prime, and Moose Warming Polarizer. Four separate RAW images adjusted in Lightroom and combined in CS5. [Although I know it's bad form to shoot panos with a polarizing filter, I wanted the warmth of the filter and cloud pop for this one, so I gave it a run.]

On our way home from Boise this afternoon, we took the 'scenic route' and stopped by Craters of the Moon National Monument. Given my affinity for shots of gnarly, dead trees, I could have spent much longer than the few minutes I had to snap a few exposures and get back on the road. On a recent trip to the Big Horn Canyon in northern Wyoming/southern Montana, I spotted this old tree perched on a ledge above the Big Horn River, winding its way north 1000 feet below. I wonder how long the gnarled old man has stood watch over this desolate place, where wind and water continually wage their war against the mighty canyon walls. Taken with my Olympus E30 and Zuiko 14-45mm lens.
