It Ain't Called 'Big Sky' for Nuthin'

To create this panoramic, I stitched together seven separate shots taken at the Headwaters State Park in Montana. I sometimes marvel how blessed we are to live in a place like this.

Very cool, I haven't figured out how to do this on my camera. It would be good in Mongolia too.

Thanks, Dave. This is my first attempt at a pano - used CS4's built-in panorama feature just to see what it would do. Found out it creates an incredibly big file - the uploaded file (72dpi) is almost 2MB - the original is almost 150MB. Pretty impressed with the default results. If I ever get serious about panoramic photography, I'll probably invest in a pano head (to manage parallax and all that stuff). But my next task is to build one of the Bridgers (a local mountain range) - my wife wants a 3'x8' print/canvas to hang on the wall of our great room. Waiting for the right lighting!

Wow. Great pano. You really caught some awesome light there. I haven't played with stitching in a while. We stitched some QTVRs in college. I remember it took a week to do 5 :)

Thanks, Joe - I think it may have been beginner's luck. The technology certainly makes it easier, though! I need to get out there and start shooting again - I've taken a bit of a hiatus this summer...

I'm pretty partial to it myself!
